Purpose & Philosophy

At Vine Preschool learning is a natural and holistic experience that occurs throughout each day’s activities. Our program is developmentally age appropriate for preschool children and offers experiences that meet children's physical, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual needs and stimulates learning of the whole child. We recognize that each child has unique talents, learning styles and personalities that have been nurtured in their home environments. Our hope is that Vine Preschool is the next best place to a child's home.  Our purpose in partnering with families is to extend a child's learning by giving them a wide variety of opportunities each day, providing time for learning through activities planned by the teaching staff and balanced with time for learning through independent exploration and play. Our goal at Vine Preschool is to provide a  nurturing and fun learning environment for young children. Vine Preschool is an integral part of the ministry of Vine Church and is open to all children regardless of race, nationality or creed.  It seeks to meet the needs of the children and families in the community by offering a high quality, Christian weekday program for children 30 months to 5 years of age.  Vine Preschool enhances the lives of preschool families by providing opportunities for growth and involvement through the ongoing Kids and Family ministries at the church.

Licensing

Vine Preschool operates under the standards of The Commonwealth of Virginia, which assumes that child day programs take responsibility for the supervision, protection, safety, and well-being of a child for any part of a 24-hour period. Title 63.1 of the Code of Virginia gives the Department of Social Services the authority to license these programs.

Parental Participation

Parents are a valued partner in their child's education and contribute significantly to the success of Vine Preschool.  It is our hope that every parent will commit to volunteering in some capacity during the school year as their schedule and talents allow. Below, you will find a brief overview of some of the many opportunities that you can participate in throughout the year.  As you will notice, there are tasks with varying commitment times, as well as different types of tasks.  Some of these tasks can be done at home or while your child is in class. Room Parents:  Room parents help support the classroom by fostering a sense of community within the classroom and recruiting volunteers for specific classroom needs, parties, teacher appreciation events, and school functions. Enrichment Visitors:  All parents or guardians are encouraged to visit in their child's class during the year.  We encourage parents to share family and cultural traditions, careers, travel experiences and hobbies.  If you have talents that you would like to share with your child's class, please let us know and we will find an appropriate time to work it into the curriculum. Spring Garden Maintenance Crew:  Clean up, pull weeds, wash equipment, and help ensure our children's garden remains top notch. Fall School Picture Helper:  Help the photographer with children as they prepare for and have their school photo taken. On Call Sewing Skills:  Volunteers help sew costumes or other items on an as needed basis. On Call Mr. or Mrs. Fix-it:  Volunteers help with random tasks on an as needed basis. Please take a few minutes to consider how you can help out at the preschool this year.  A parent interest form will be made available during the registration process as well as during orientation the first week of school. Thank you in advance for your support and for sharing your time with us.
