Vine Church | Merrifield

One Church. Two locations.

I'm Kris Beckert, the church planter and campus pastor of the new Vine Church- Graham Road campus. Starting new churches and ministries for non-religious people has been in my blood since I first started in ministry. I grew up in a Catholic household in Philadelphia and out of college had a career as an environmental scientist in Maryland-- but God apparently had other plans. Over the last eight years, I've been part of the launch team for a new church, completed a Master of Divinity degree, was ordained as a pastor, and have run everything from 5K's to marathons. I'm addicted to pumpkin spice coffee (year round), and I love hiking, drawing, and playing inline hockey.

I'm excited about starting a new campus of Vine Church in Falls Church where everyone, regardless of their background or place in life, can feel like they belong. That's what Jesus did, after all. Too often people see church as a "nice" thing to do but virtually meaningless and irrelevant to their lives-- and we at Vine Church want to change that. Through our Pumpkinfest, fire pits, Christmas events, and worship services, the Vine Church campus at Graham Road desires to build a community that shapes our surrounding community and allows people to discover God's purpose for their lives. Whether you are a skeptic, believer, dreamer, or a bit of all of the above, I can't wait to meet you.

Check out the video and info below to learn more. Or email me and we can grab coffee or lunch!

Now meeting weekly on Sundays @ 9:30am

Vine Church - Graham Road was started at 2929 Graham Rd. Falls Church, Virginia 22042, formerly Graham Road UMC. Graham Road UMC was organized in 1951 and chartered on January 13, 1952, beginning with forty-seven members. The congregation originally met in the Oak Street School (now Thomas Jefferson School), in Falls Church, Virginia. On March 7, 1954, minister George Henley conducted the first service in the new church building at the present location. For a number of years, local radio station WFCR broadcast the 11:15 a.m. service on a weekly basis. Like many churches, over the decades, attendance and community involvement dwindled. As communities became more diverse and younger, churches did not.

Vine Church has a strategic plan to plant 10 new churches in 20 years. The Dunn Loring campus was launched in 2010 on Gallows Road, in what was formerly Dunn Loring UMC. This location has built new relationships, reached out to the surrounding community and is ready for what is next.

In 2016, leaders from Graham Road met with from Vine Church and after much conversation and prayer, the Graham Road UMC congregation voted unanimously to become a legacy congregation. That enabled Vine Church to plant a new campus at their site. Renovations will begin in fall of 2016 and that site launched on Sunday, January 8, 2017.
