Arum joined The Vine in July 2018. She is supporting The Vine - Graham Road Campus, mainly as the lead pastor of the legacy congregation. Before joining The Vine, she served as the lead pastor of Atlantic UMC and Berea UMC, and also as a Church Transformation Team Coordinator in the Eastern Shore District. She is passionate about church revitalization: helping churches understand, embrace, and adapt to changes so they become more effective in spreading the gospel in this ever-changing world.
Arum was born and raised in South Korea. She earned her undergraduate degree from Seoul National University, Seoul, South Korea. She moved to the U.S. in 2008, earned her Master of Science in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities and her Master of Divinity from Wesley Theological Seminary. She is a provisional elder of The Virginia Conference of The United Methodist Church.
Arum lives in Falls Church with her husband Joon Shin, daughter Virginia, and two big cats.
